There are many free campsites in Japan. If you will camp in Japan, in most cases you have to reserve and get permission for use the campsite.
The campsites is crowded on the weekend and holiday. So you should better to reserve the campsite beforehand.

Campsite is located on the beach.
The nearest campsite to parking lot was crowded.
The innermost part of campsite is quiet place. So if you want to sleep undisturbed, I think that it would be better for you to go and camp there.
It's old facility.
Water facilities have many faucets.
Fireplace was broken. But it is still usable.
The nearest toilet to parking lot is vault toilet. And the innermost one is a clean flush toilet.
There are some variations of tent sites.
The site with tent pads are located on the slope of the mountain.
Many falling rocks were there. There was nobody there.
Another site is located in the forest. It's cool space.
Someone was sleeping comfortably in a hammock.
