There are many free campsites in Japan. If you will camp in Japan, in most cases you have to reserve and get permission for use the campsite.
The campsites is crowded on the weekend and holiday. So you should better to reserve the campsite beforehand.

The campsite is located at the north side of the estuary of the Kami-kawa river that flows into Kinko bay.
The tent site is flat and covered by lawn. It is nice ocean view from there.
But the strong wind is blowing, so please be careful when you set up your tarp.
The campsite is on the side of the national root, so it's noisy place, but it is good for travel camping.
The cooking facility is so wide and clean.
The sink is made of concrete, and it is tap water.
The fireplace is made of fire brick.
The grill is two-stage type, But only the bottom of the grill is available.
There are many barbecue tables in the campsite.
If you prepare food and grilling-net and charcoal, you will enjoy a barbecue.
The restroom is in the administrator's house. Accessible toilet is available too.
When I visited in new year's day, the administrator has been there.
The campsite is available for free other than summer season. It is July.1 to Aug.31. The entrance fee for adults is 100 yen, and tent bring in fee is 500 yen.
There are playground equipments in the campsite, so also children will be able to enjoy playing.
